This is a Complete Habitat Kit for all your beginner to intermediate species of isopods! Everything you need in one tub!

We specifically formulated this perfect mix of PREMIUM materials to sustain a thriving colony of isopods (and springtails). Our Isopod substrate is AGB mix inspired but with additional ingredients perfectly formulated for isopods. NO coco fiber or fillers!

Papaya Isopods (Cubaris murina)

Papaya is the albino strain of the Cubaris murina isopod. Isopod Substrate

This special enriched substrate is hand crafted with premium materials for your isopod, millipedes and other micro fauna needs. For use in isopod cultures, bioactives and all other manner of natural enclosures.- Regular Bag: weighs 1.5 lbs and halfway fills a 6qt shoebox culture. (Bag dimensions 8x10")- Large Bag: weighs 3.0 lbs and halfway fills a 15qt plastic container. Bag dimensions 12x10"No filler and no coco fiber! Only the best organic material substrate! Ingredients: mushroom compost, orchid bark, willow bark, long fiber sphagnum, peat moss, shredded leaf litter, hardwood charcoal, calcium. Light, fluffy and chunky! We have developed this unique substrate over years of using it for our own collection. It resembles an ABG mix but has extras. The ground-up willow bark is essential for keeping mold and fungus at bay in wet habitats!

Live Oak Leaf Litter

Live oak leaf litter is a small, thick leaf that makes an excellent leaf litter in all manner of habitats or as a food source for isopods and other micro fauna.- Regular: 1 quart, 10x6" resealable bag.- Large: 1 gallon, 12"x10" resealable bagLeaf size and color varies.All our Live oak was collected in Texas, USA and has been hand sorted to provide a whole quality leaf.Live oak has many beneficial qualities. It provides a source of tannin when used in aquariums and when raising tadpoles. The small leaves are a favorite hiding place for isopods, springtails and other bioactive microfauna.Live oak is one of our favorite leaf litters due to it's versatility!

Pin Oak Leaf Litter

Hand collected various sized pin oak leaves from pesticide free private land in Missouri, USA.- Regular: 1 quart, 10x6" resealable bag.- Large: 1 gallon, 12"x10" resealable bag.Leaf size and color may vary. May include very small oak sticks or acorns, all of which are also ideal ingredients in bioactive setups!- Oak leaves are a natural antioxidant, are antibacterial, anti inflammatory and are generally beneficial for vivariums, terrariums and aquariums and any other matter of bioactive setup.- Leaf litter is also essential as a ground cover in living setups, it provides a home for micro fauna and acts as an isopod food source. Oak leaf litter breaks down overtime, which releases essential nutrients back into the surrounding environment.

White Springtails

Folsomia candida, White Springtails, are one of the most commonly used species of springtail in all manner of natural habitats! This starter culture comes in an 8oz deli cup on charcoal. Hardwood Charcoal

Horticultural hardwood charcoal is our preference for raising springtail colonies or mixing into soils for isopods and bioactive vivariums conditioning.- Comes in a 1 lb bag measuring 6" x 9".- Small grade: The small size of these charcoal pieces are perfect for providing extra surface area for springtails.Charcoal has a wide range of uses. It is valuable as a filter, the tiny pores absorb harmful chemicals and nutrients while hosting beneficial bacteria.Mix in with soils to lengthen the life of soil. We mix this charcoal directly into our isopod culture substrate to help filter ammonia.Use a layer of charcoal above the drainage layer but below the soil layer in Bioactives to help filter the excess water and prevent it from stagnating.Use as the sole substrate for springtail cultures. The small grade charcoal provides more surface area for springtails.We recommend washing or wetting the charcoal before use because its very dusty when its dry.
